Senior Outreach
Senior Outreach offers compassion and friendship in our Senior Community by delivering hot meals and cold breakfasts and lunches with warm smiles and friendly conversation to homebound seniors in Laguna Woods. We work in conjunction with South County Services to provide this service, and over the past 10 years, our volunteers have worked more than 40 hours per month delivering over twenty thousand meals.
ASH (Assisting Shelter Homes)
ASH (Assisting Shelter Homes) reaches out to abused women and their children at Laura’s House. We supply clothing and assistance for abused women and children who seek shelter at Laura’s House. Every month we receive a wish list of needed items from the shelter including clothing, pajamas, diapers, shoes and hygiene items. Committee members then shop and deliver the items from the wish list to the shelter.
Wishing Well
Wishing Well provides entertaining and educational items such as mobiles, rattles and teethers, craft materials, CD’s and CD players, stuffed animals, cars and trucks to assist infants and primary-aged children while they are patients in CHOC or Mission Hospital.
Infant Bereavement
Infant Bereavement provides memory boxes to parents who have lost their babies at CHOC and at Mission Hospital. The boxes include items such as a gown for burial of the infant, a camera, a Certificate of Life for the hand and footprints of the baby, and a ceramic heart-within-a heart (the smaller heart to be buried with the baby and the larger one for the mother to keep). This project has touched the hearts of our entire membership as well as the recipients.
Adopt-A-Family
Adopt-A-Family provides food, clothing and gifts 3-4 times a year to 10 needy families who are identified for us by Saddleback Community Outreach. We contact the families, develop a wish list, and shop for and deliver the items personally. The knowledge that we are reaching entire families with this philanthropy is what makes this project so rewarding.
Healthfair & Campership
Through Healthfair & Campership projects, ALSV reaches the needs of children in our community by donating bicycle helmets to Mission Hospital and sleeping bags to The Register Campership Program.
